Sevenoaks Brexitometer – 27 October 2018
The Brexitometer was out on Sevenoaks High Street on Saturday to ask the opinion of Sevenoaks shoppers. Stormy weather perhaps mirroring UK-EU negotiations. The results provided some pretty stark numbers:
- Less than 5% of respondents thought Brexit promises would be delivered.
- Less than 6% of respondents thought Brexit was going well
- Only 16% of respondents would be happy with No Deal Brexit
- Over 70% of respondents were in favour of a People’s Vote on the final deal.

“It’s an awful mess” say Tonbridge shoppers
On Saturday 21 July Sevenoaks & Swanley Together in Europe (SSTIE) campaigned for a People’s Vote in Tonbridge High Street along with pro-EU activists from Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells (TW-IN).
Hundreds of leaflets with a link to the petition demanding a People’s Vote were accepted, 73 Tonbridge shoppers signed a paper copy of the petition and 245 expressed their opinion on the SSTIE Brexitometer board. Continue reading ““It’s an awful mess” say Tonbridge shoppers”

The Will of the British People is to Remain in the EU
One month ago, the major pro-Europe organisations came together to launch the single combined campaign, “People’s Vote”, i.e. for the British people to have a vote on the final Brexit deal to be proposed by the Government. It is important to recognise that such a vote is not the organisations’ final objective, but rather the essential mechanism through which the present will of the British people will be expressed. Leavers will argue that this will has already been expressed through the 2016 Referendum. Remainers overwhelmed at local support as nearly 250 turn up on Saturday 21st April to hear Professor A C Grayling say Brexit is not a done deal.
What’s the cost of Brexit?
On Wednesday 28 February 2018, campaigners from across Kent descended from a familiar looking battle-bus to deliver a message to Kent County Council. This bus carried the slogan: “Brexit to cost £2,000 million a week” – a different message from its infamous predecessor!
