Remain Alliance active in Sevenoaks
SSTIE Campaign in Sevenoaks Saturday 12th Oct
In the last month SSTIE has invited local political parties who are in favour of a People’s Vote to join with us in a Remain alliance and campaign together. As a result, we had visits to the stall in Sevenoaks from Kyle Marsh PPC for the LDs in Dartford and Helen Fiorini of the Labour Party. This cooperation will hopefully develop and will be invaluable going forward in the event of another Referendum.

The table shows the combined results of SSTIE’s polling in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Swanley in the last 4 weeks.
The principal message to take from this is very encouraging for Remain in that across West Kent there is an 11% rise in support for Remain largely coming from those who declared that they didn’t vote in 2016.
How would Swanley vote in another referendum?
In Swanley on Saturday it was dry and not cold. It was not very busy but we still had 166 people put stickers on the Brexitometer. As on previous visits Swanley voters are mostly Leavers, the numbers are in the table.
And the picture is that there would be very little change if we get another referendum. Of the 12 people who said that they did not vote in the 2016 referendum, 6 would vote leave, 3 would vote to remain and 3 would not vote next time either.

These are politically turbulent times – nobody knows where we are going and people are both very concerned and aghast at the chaos that Mr Johnson and his cohort seem to be unleashing on the country.
Brexit is Breaking Britain and we need to for a way to fix it. So, on Saturday we asked shoppers in Sevenoaks Town whether they thought we needed to go ahead with No Deal, with May’s Deal, with Johnson’s Deal or whether we should Remain in Europe (which is of course the Deal that we have now).

Hats off to Tonbridge Labour group for reacting quickly to the prorogation. The gathering in Tonbridge today had all-party support, with lots of Greens, LibDems and some remarkably outspoken Conservatives saying they’d voted Conservative all their lives and never would again. The demonstration included a number of Leave Voters were there too, objecting to the way Take Back Control was leading to Boris Johnson’s power-grab from parliament.
Heather Martin reports having walked to the demo with her “Yes to Europe. No to Boris” sign and being stopped by young people saying “Thank you for doing this!”
